Winners of Staton Intramural Moot Court Competition Announced

The championship round of IU McKinney’s Honorable Robert H. Staton Intramural Moot Court Competition was held at the Indiana Supreme Court on November 4. The round pitted Tyler Holmes and James Harry against Josh Woodward and Jessica Hilger. After a close round, Holmes and Harry were declared champions. Woodward took home honors as the best oralist in the championship round.
The panel who judged the round consisted of Justice Mark Massa, ’89, of the Indiana Supreme Court; Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson, ’83, and Magistrate Judge Tim Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana; and Judges Ted Najam and Cale Bradford, ’86, of the Indiana Court of Appeals.
The Moot Court Board announced the recipients of two other Staton Competition awards. Kristina Frey won honors for the best oralist in the preliminary rounds, and Robert Swider won honors for the best brief in the competition.
The 2015 Moot Court Board, tasked with running the Staton Competition, was made up of the following students:

- Associate Justice, Scorekeeping: Bill Schoelwer
- Associate Justice, Information Technology: Jake Ahler
- Associate Justices, Competition Management: Kate Bacon, Ken Enright, Josh Friend, Molly Guinnip, Brad Riley, Jordan Slusher, Michael Sullivan, and Katherine Voskoboynik
