Mock Trial Aimed at Education
09/17/2015
A mock trial centered on sexual assault was held in the Wynne Courtroom at Inlow Hall on September 16.
The focus was teaching those who work in law enforcement, prosecution, sexual assault nursing examiners, and advocacy about criminal trial procedure, SANE testimony, and witness preparation.
“This was a great event,” said one of the mock trial’s organizers, Kerry Hyatt Bennett, ’90. “Their evidence is key,” she said of sexual assault nurse examiners. “Getting the information from them is critically important.” Bennett teaches as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney and is legal counsel with the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
