Judge Granger, '94, to Be Senator's Guest at State of the Union Address
01/06/2016
Judge Maria Granger, ’94, has been invited by Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly to be his guest at President Barack Obama’s final State of the Union address on January 12. Senator Donnelly said he wanted to honor Judge Granger’s work in establishing the first Veterans Court in the state in Floyd County.
The Floyd County Veterans Court, Floyd Superior Court No. 3, began in early 2012. There are now 15 Veterans Courts in Indiana, with nine more in the planning stages. The courts are designed to help veterans who are in the criminal justice system. The effort brings together a variety of services aimed at helping veterans who have post-traumatic stress, anxiety, or depression which can lead to substance abuse and a host of other issues.
