IU McKinney Student Group Fundraiser to Benefit Victims of Child Abuse
02/23/2016
The second “Teal Tie” Fundraising Dinner will be held at IU McKinney’s atrium on April 2 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is the effort of student members of the Family Law Society, the International Human Rights Law Society, and the International Law Society.
Proceeds will benefit Child Advocates of Marion County, and Women and Law in Southern Africa Research and Educational Trust – Swaziland (WLSA – Swaziland).
Indiana has seen an increase of 25 percent in “child in need of services cases,” but the increase is closer to 30 percent in Marion County. Child Advocates provides assistance to children who have been abused and need a voice in court who will speak on their behalf.
WLSA – Swaziland works to promote the rights of girls through strategic action, research, lobbying for legal reforms, policy changes, and laws that eliminate the practices which discriminate against women and girls.
The color teal is the official color of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is April in the United States.
Tickets are available for purchase now. For more information, check the IU McKinney website.
