Professor Schumm, '98, Comments on State's Move to Put Pleadings Online

Appellate pleadings and motions filed by attorneys in Indiana will be online at the website mycase.in.gov sometime within the next 60 days, according to an article in the Indiana Lawyer. The goal is to put Indiana in the lead of what’s being done nationwide in terms of accessibility.
While a positive move, there is need for caution, IU McKinney’s Professor Joel Schumm said in the story. He is actively involved with the bench, the bar, and the legal writing academic community. Professor Schumm is a magna cum laude graduate of the law school, and director of the IU McKinney Appellate Clinic. In addition, he is director of the Judicial Externship Program, and director of Experiential Learning at the law school.
