Eight IU McKinney Professors Receive Grant Funding for Online Course Development and Innovation
04/21/2016
Eight IU McKinney professors have been awarded $40,000 in grant funding to support online course development as part of the law school’s online course offerings. The award was made April 15.
A total of four grant proposals were submitted through the competitive Curriculum Enhancement Grant program offered by the IUPUI Center for Teaching and Learning. The funding will support “McKinney Online 2.0,” a reboot of existing online courses to develop and to implement practice readiness elements. The Center for Teaching and Learning and Indiana University e-Learning and Design Services will partner with McKinney Law Online in this work.
Courses affected include highly recommended upper-level courses, upper-level elective courses, and upper-level skills courses.
“Students will emerge from the redesigned courses prepared to translate their knowledge into immediate professional achievement,” said Professor Max Huffman, the law school’s faculty director of online programs. “McKinney Online 2.0 is further evidence that the law school is committed to bringing students the best of legal education with all the flexibility online courses provide.”
Associate Professor Yvonne Dutton and Professor Huffman led the grant proposal effort. Vice Dean Antony Page, Professors Cynthia Adams, Shawn Boyne, and James Nehf and Associate Professor Margaret Ryznar also contributed to the effort.
In addition, Associate Professor Diana Winters earned a grant to develop Food and Drug Law Online. This offering, currently anticipated for Spring Semester 2017, will be the 18th full course in the McKinney Law Online catalog.
