06/22/2016
Philip Aka, LL.M. ’08, recently published a review essay titled, “Expanding Boundaries of Human Rights in (East) Africa” in the Journal of African and Asian Studies.
Aka, who also is an S.J.D. candidate at IU McKinney, focused his essay on how politics in Uganda has changed since the era of human rights abuses under Idi Amin. Today, Aka finds, people are using the language of human rights in their social struggles, and includes LGBT rights as well.
Aka is a professor of political science at Chicago State University, and is an adjunct professor at IU McKinney.
