Professor Dimitri Speaks at Indiana State Bar Events

Professor James Dimitri spoke at two conferences hosted by the Indiana State Bar Association in June, both of which touched upon electronic filing.
Professor Dimitri spoke on a panel on June 2 as part of the bar association’s Solo and Small Firm Conference. He spoke about Indiana courts’ electronic filing initiative with Indiana Court of Appeals Judge Edward Najam, and Bob Rath, ’06, director of technology for Indiana’s appellate courts.
Professor Dimitri spoke on June 13 for the bar association’s Appellate Practice Skills Conference on a panel about formatting appellate briefs in the digital age. His fellow panelists were Indiana Court of Appeals Judges Paul Mathias and Terry Crone, and Barnes & Thornburg partner John Maley, ’88.
At both conferences, Professor Dimitri spoke about using good typography and document-design principles to enhance the readability of digital briefs.
Professor Dimitri is a summa cum laude graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law, who practiced at the Indianapolis firm Frank & Kraft before serving as staff counsel for the Indiana Department of Correction. He later served as a deputy attorney general with the Indiana Attorney General’s Office. He began teaching as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney in 1997, and was appointed as a full-time professor in 1998. Professor Dimitri serves as faculty advisor to the Moot Court Society, advising the board in its administration of the Honorable Robert H. Staton Intramural Moot Court Competition.
