Professor Drobac Comments on Fox News Sexual Harassment Case for "Washington Post"
07/13/2016
Professor Jennifer Drobac talked about the law suit alleging sexual harassment against Fox News for a story that appeared in the Washington Post on July 7.
Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson is suing the network’s chief executive, Roger Ailes, alleging sexual harassment. It will be tough for the network to discredit Carlson without harming itself, according to Professor Drobac. “There may be reasons he (Ailes) hired her (Carlson) that have nothing to do with her journalistic prowess and integrity,” she said in the news story. “She was an attractive woman, and this is TV. He may have been thinking about ratings, not her journalistic talents.”
Professor Drobac’s scholarly work focuses on sexual harassment law as well as adolescent neurological and psychological development and the law. Her latest book, Sexual Exploitation of Teenagers: Adolescent Development, Discrimination, and Consent Law, was published by University of Chicago Press.
