Mallory Long, ’15, legislative counsel for the Indiana Secretary of State, presented two lectures on election law at universities in China as part of her participation in the Chinese Law Summer Program.
Long, who published a note on election law in the Indiana International & Comparative Law Review at IU McKinney during her time as a student, now works in the state agency tasked with overseeing election law in Indiana.
At Renmin University of China Law School on June 7, Long spoke on the topic “Election Law in the United States.” Her Renmin host was Professor Xiangshun Ding, LL.M. ’06, director of the Department of Comparative Law and Trilateral Cooperation Studies Center at Renmin.
At China Ocean University on June 12, Long also discussed United States election law. Long’s presentation was part of that university’s “Global Perspectives” series. Her host for this lecture was former visiting scholar at IU McKinney Professor Dong Yue.
IU McKinney’s Chinese Law Summer Program commemorated its 30th year in 2016. Participants take courses in Chinese domestic law, take law-related field trips, and cultural field trips. This also marks the 19th year in which the program has been hosted by Renmin University of China Law School.
