2L Connor Berkebile Interns in Brazil through Program in International Human Rights Law

IU McKinney 2L Connor Berkebile completed an internship during Summer 2016 at WimBelemDon in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil through the Program in International Human Rights Law (PIHRL). WimBelemDon is an organization that uses tennis as a vehicle to provide children with educational training, support, and opportunities. It also helps further human rights protections of the children, and prepares them for their futures.
Berkebile was visited at the organization by Professor George Edwards, PIHRL’s director. Berkebile drafted a “Know Your Rights” manual to be used by children, their parents, human rights workers, and government officials to raise awareness, help prevent violations, and identify remedies. Professor Edwards and Berkebile also took the opportunity to join in some tennis during the professor’s visit.
