Professor Adams, '83, Named to Governing Board of Legal Writing Institute Writers Workshop

Professor Cynthia Adams, ’83, has been appointed by the Legal Writing Institute’s (LWI) Board of Directors to the Governing Board of the LWI Writers Workshop. She joins five other board members who are leading scholars in the LWI community dedicated to fostering intellectual rigor and scholarly development. The Governing Board oversees an annual scholarship workshop that encourages and supports quality research, engaged scholarship, and the continuing development of emerging scholars. With nearly 3,000 member representing 38 countries, LWI is the second largest organization of law professors in the United States.
Professor Adams is a clinical professor of law at IU McKinney. She is the coauthor of two books, Drafting Contracts in Legal English: Cross-border Agreements Governed by U.S. Law (Aspen 2013) and The International Lawyer's Guide to Legal Analysis and Communication in the United States (2d ed., Aspen 2015). Professor Adams was one of the first faculty members to receive Indiana University's Trustee's Teaching Award in recognition of teaching excellence and is a four-time recipient of the school’s Teaching Excellence Recognition Award. Prior to joining the faculty, she practiced law with an Indianapolis firm, specializing in general corporate law, acquisitions and mergers, commercial loans, and trusts and estates.
