IP Center to Host Weekly Series for IU McKinney Students

The Center for Intellectual Property Law and Innovation at IU McKinney presents its weekly series of lectures for students to learn about career paths in IP, as well as the latest trends in the field. The lineup for the Fall 2016 semester is as follows:
The IP Center will host an Open House on August 30 over a pizza lunch. The event will offer students the chance to meet IP professors, fellow students, learn about course offerings, and discover what the Intellectual Property Student Association is all about.
The September 6 lecture will feature a panel of former IU McKinney students working in IP. The event, titled “Things That I Wanted to Know But Was Afraid to Ask,” will feature Angela B. Freeman, ’12, of Barnes & Thornburg; John Bishop, ‘13, of Cohen Garelick & Glazier; Jaclyn Flynt, ‘15, of Frost Brown Todd; and Audrey Wessel, ‘15, of CMG Worldwide.
Externships is the topic of the September 13, which will feature panelists from Eli Lilly and Company, the Purdue Foundation, and the Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation. Speakers will include Diego Wu, Brandon Bekkering, Brittany Lewin, and Sachit Revankar, ’16.
Ashley N. Moore, a partner at the Dallas law firm McKool Smith, will present the topic “Patent Litigation: the Most interesting job in the World” on September 20.
Stephen E. Reynolds, a partner at Ice Miller in Indianapolis, will present “Hot Topics in Trade Secret Law and Litigation” on September 27.
Brian J. McGinnis, a partner at Barnes & Thornburg in Indianapolis, will present “Hot Topics on the Intersection of Law and Technology” on October 4.
Danica Hostettler, ’03, assistant general patent counsel at Eli Lilly and Company, will discuss “Hot Topics in Patent Law” on October 18.
Amie Peele Carter, a partner at Faegre Baker Daniels, will present “Representing Sports and Entertainment Clients” on October 25.
Stephen F. Rost, ’06, a partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister, will present “From Innovation to IP Protection: How Changes in Patent Law Shape Patent Procurement” on November 1.
Mark Roesler, ’82, president and chief executive officer of CMG Worldwide, will visit the law school on November 15 for a lecture titled “Protecting and Monetizing the Right of Publicity.”
And Paul J. Maginot, ’89, a partner at Maginot Moore & Beck in Indianapolis, will conclude the series with a presentation on November 29.
