Mohamed Arafa, S.J.D. '13, to Teach in Brazil

Mohamed Arafa, S.J.D. ’13, has returned to Brazil, where he will teach at the University of Brasilia School of Law. He will teach an intensive class in September and October on Islamic Law and Comparative Middle Eastern Law as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law.
While in Brazil, he will travel to Port Alegre, where he will teach a one-week intensive class on the Arab Spring, Islamic law, terrorism, human rights in the Middle East, and transitional justice. The class will take place at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul.
Later in the semester, Arafa will travel to Croatia where he will give two talks on Islamic Law and the Arab Spring at the University of Rejika and the University of Zagreb in November. In December, he will be teaching at the University of Groningen at the Winter School on Human Rights in the Netherlands. He will teach on terrorism and human rights in the Middle East and under Islamic law.
In addition, he recently published “Legitimacy versus Illegitimacy — Transparency, Integrity of Financial Markets and Corporate Governance: Whither Corruption?" At 3 Kuwait Int’l L. J. of Sharie‘a Studies & Research 12 (Fall 2016),
Arafa will teach a class on Islamic law when he returns to IU McKinney in Spring 2017.
