Islamic Law Association to Host Eid Al-Adha Celebration at IU McKinney

Members of the Islamic Law Association, a student group at IU McKinney, will host an Eid Al-Adha celebration on September 14 at the law school.
Eid Al-Adha is one of two major religious holidays in Islam. The event will take place in the Inlow Hall atrium from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Eid Al-Adha is one of two major religious holidays in Islam. The celebration will include traditional foods, music, dancing, and people attired in traditional Islamic clothing.
“This holiday dates back to the Prophet Ibrahim, when God commanded him to slaughter his son Prophet Ismail,” said Alhadi Altower, an S.J.D. candidate at IU McKinney and president of the Islamic Law Association. “Then God sent down two rams for the redemption of Ismail. Muslims celebrate this festival during the tenth day of the final month of the Islamic calendar, which is the day that the pilgrims lead the rituals of Al-hajj in Mecca.”
