09/15/2016
Members of the Islamic Law Association (ILA), a student group at IU McKinney, hosted an Eid Al-Adha celebration on September 14 at the law school.
Eid Al-Adha is one of two major religious holidays in Islam. The event took place in the Inlow Hall atrium, and included traditional foods, music, dancing, and people attired in traditional Islamic clothing.
“This holiday dates back to the Prophet Ibrahim,” said Alhadi Altower, an S.J.D. candidate at IU McKinney and president of the Islamic Law Association. “Muslims celebrate this festival during the tenth day of the final month of the Islamic calendar, which is the day that the pilgrims lead the rituals of Al-hajj in Mecca.”
