Daniel Griffith, '90, Presents First Graduate Studies Lecture of Fall 2016 Semester

Daniel Griffith, ’90, presented the first lecture of the Fall 2016 semester for the Graduate Studies Lecture Series. The event took place on September 15 at Inlow Hall. His talk was titled “Models for Conflict Resolution, Dialogue, and Civil Discourse: The Lawyer’s Guide to Other Ways to Settle Disputes.”
Griffith has an extensive background in conflict resolution, mediation, and the facilitation of dialogue processes. He is director of the IUPUI Office for Intergroup Dialogue and Civil Community, which directs programs and initiatives focused on facilitating dialogues, public forums and other communication processes involving issues of social identity, social justice and civil discourse. An attorney and mediator, he specializes in mediating employment, management and higher education disputes as well as in training lawyers, HR professionals, and managers in mediation, negotiation, communication, and dialogue skills. He has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in negotiation and alternative dispute resolution, organizational leadership, diversity, conflict management, and human resources management. He is also a trainer for the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law Public Policy Mediation course. In addition, he is the co-author of The Conflict Survival Kit: Tools for Resolving Conflict at Work (2nd ed.) and the Supervisor Survival Kit (11th ed.).
