11/03/2016
Two IU McKinney alumnae were among those honored November 3 as “Women of Influence” by the Indianapolis Business Journal.
Cynthia Booth, ’91, is Executive Director of Child Advocates. She began her career there as a staff attorney after she learned the organization was hiring. Booth says she pursued the job until she was hired and “wanted to use her law degree to help people.” She has led the organization for 20 years, growing it from 8 employees to nearly 80 with a caseload approaching 8,000. Booth approached IU McKinney about starting the Child Advocacy Law Clinic. The clinic launched in Fall 2016 with a goal of training students as court-appointed special advocates.
The Honorable Robyn L. Moberly, ’78, is Chief Judge, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Indiana. Judge Moberly is the first woman to serve in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Indiana. She currently serves as president of the Indianapolis Bar Association, and has served as president of the Indiana Judges Association. She began her career in private practice before being slated as a candidate for the Marion Superior Court in 1996.
The program began with remarks by Martha Hoover, ’80, owner and president of Patachou, Inc.
