Congratulations to IU McKinney Alumni on General Election Wins

A large number of alumni of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law were elected or re-elected to public office during the general election on November 8, 2016. Most notably among them are Governor Mike Pence, ’86, who was elected to the office of Vice President of the United States.
Also at the federal level, Congressman Todd Young, ’06, was elected to the United States Senate. He currently represents Indiana’s District 9. Congresswoman Susan Brooks, ’85, was re-elected; she represents District 5. Congressman Todd Rokita, ’95, also was re-elected, representing District 4.
“We are proud of our alumni in public service across the state and nation who serve in a wide range of positions of responsibility and leadership,” said IU McKinney Dean Andy Klein.
Re-elected to state offices were Representative Brian Bosma, ’84, who represents District 88 in the Indiana House, where he also serves as Speaker. Representative Mike Speedy, ’95, was re-elected to the Indiana House, where he represents District 90. Representative Ryan Dvorak, ’08, was re-elected to represent District 8.
Senator Brandt Hershman, ’16, who represents District 7, serves as majority floor leader. Also re-elected was Senator Susan Glick, ’78, who represents District 13; and Senator Michael Young, ’09, who represents District 35.
Two IU McKinney alumni on the Indiana Court of Appeals faced retention votes this year. Judge Patricia Riley, ’74, and Judge James Kirsch, ’74, were both retained to the bench.
