IU McKinney Students, Faculty, and Staff Commemorate Diwali on November 4
11/07/2016
IU McKinney students organized a celebration of the Hindu festival known as Diwali, the festival of lights, on November 4 at Inlow Hall.
One of the major festivals of Hinduism, it signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Preparations and rituals last over about five days, with the main festival night coinciding on the night of the darkest new moon between mid-October and mid-November.
At IU McKinney, the festival was organized by the Master of Laws Association, the Asian Law Students Association, and the Student Bar Association.
