John Krauss, '76, Reflects on Passing of Former Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut
12/19/2016
John Krauss, ’76, who served as deputy mayor in the administration of former Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut, reflected on Hudnut’s passing in a story published in the Indianapolis Star December 19.
“He helped the city dream,” Krauss said of Hudnut’s time in office. “When you said ‘Indianapolis,’” Krauss recalls of that time, “nothing came to mind. Nothing. We had no image. Hudnut set about creating an image for Indianapolis.” Hudnut served as Indianapolis mayor from 1976 to 1992. The former mayor died December 18 at age 84.
Krauss teaches public policy mediation and conflict resolution as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney. He is the former and founding director of the Indiana University Public Policy Institute, senior advisor to the IUPUI Chancellor, and Clinical Professor Emeritus of Public and Environmental Affairs.
