01/25/2017
Philip Aka, LL.M. ’08 and S.J.D. ’16, has published the book titled Human Rights in Nigeria's External Relations: Building the Record of a Moral Superpower. The book was published by Lexington Books in 2017.
The book is a revision of the doctor of juridical science dissertation he defended at IU McKinney in May 2016. The study is a broad-ranging argument for thorough reforms at home and abroad in Nigeria as the only antidote to the nation-building dilemmas Nigeria confronts in the first quarter of the 21st century. Although focused on the period since independence, for proper understanding of events from the past that shape the current patterns of politics in Nigeria, this book also includes a historical background chapter that covers the precolonial and colonial eras.
Aka is a professor of political science at Chicago State University, and teaches as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney.
