The Black Law Students Association at IU McKinney will commemorate Black History Month with weekly events organizers are referring to as the #Hashtag Series. The events all have a hashtag, reflecting the students' affinity for social media and the influence it has on contemporary culture. All of the panel discussions will take place at Inlow Hall.
- February 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 245: #BlackOnCampus
- February 9 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Room 300: #BlackGirlMagic
- February 16 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Room 245: #MyBrothersKeeper
- February 21 from 5 to 6 p.m. in Room 385: #BlackHistoryMatters
“The purpose of the Hashtag Series is to not only highlight the issues that occur in the black community, but to promote and celebrate the advancement of African-Americans,” said series organizer and BLSA member Khristian Wills. “My greatest hope for this series is to ensure that it is very much inclusive in its efforts to foster an honest and open dialogue about the history of African-Americans in this country.”
