Article on Information Governance by Ruth Lilly Law Library Professor Wins Award
03/17/2017
Professor Susan deMaine, Assistant Director for Information Services, Ruth Lilly Law Library, was recently named the 2017 recipient of the Outstanding Article Award from the American Association of Law Libraries, Academic Law Libraries Special Interest Section, for her 2016 article, Preparing Law Students for Information Governance. In studying e-discovery and its quick growth, Professor deMaine learned about the larger practice of information governance. She realized that it is an area in which law students need to be more knowledgeable. As she states in the article, “Many law schools have responded to the rapid development of e-discovery by offering specialized courses, but only a few address the larger topic of information governance. Information governance’s relationship to e-discovery and other legal concerns such as regulatory obligations and business practices makes familiarity with information governance vital for lawyers advising clients in these areas.”
The Academic Law Libraries Special Interest Section (ALL-SIS) is the largest special interest section within the American Association of Law Libraries, which is known as the premier professional association for law librarians. ALL-SIS brings together librarians from across the country to share expertise and establish best practices in legal research, scholarship teaching, and academic library management. Professor deMaine will accept her award in July at the American Association of Law Library Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas.
