Women's Caucus Auction Winners Visit Escape Room
03/21/2017
A group of students from Professor Shawn Boyne’s criminal law class visited the Escape Room in Indianapolis. The outing was one of the prizes at the Women’s Caucus annual auction at IU McKinney. The students who accompanied Professor Boyne included Eden Strange, Keith Michaels, and Sarah Hanson.
The group took part in the Escape Room’s KGB Interrogation. There were conflicting reports of the outcome of the group’s escape attempt, according to Professor Boyne. Some sources report that group members were able to free themselves from handcuffs and shackles, successfully pick several locks and solve a few math problems, she said. However, the group’s escape attempt failed when they encountered a polygraph machine. Professor Boyne, who was caught on camera trying to move the machine out of the way, denied all culpability and claimed that the rules did not explicitly prohibit that strategy. At least one student criticized the course syllabus for failing to ensure that students were adequately prepared for the challenges they may face in the real world.
