05/02/2017
An article concerning the impact that military service has on law school applications and outcomes for students who enroll was published by the ABA Journal. The article was written by Professor Cynthia Baker (in the photo at right) and Lauren Peña, '13.
The pair did a survey concerning the impact of military service on law school admissions, and how students who have previously served in the military perform in school once they enroll. The survey was conducted through the Law School Admissions Council listserv.
Professor Baker and Peña also talked with IU McKinney students who have served in the military. The authors found that military service enhances an individual’s law school application, and strengthens the student’s success in school.
The article was published in TYL, The Young Lawyer, section. Pervin Taleyarkhan, '13, serves on the editorial board for TYL.
Professor Baker is the director of the Program on Law and State Government. Peña is assistant director of admissions and recruitment at IU McKinney.
