Faculty Prize Awarded to Kristina Coleman at 2017 Commencement
06/07/2017
IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law is proud to announce the 2016-2017 Faculty Prize Award recipient is J.D. graduate Kristina Coleman. The prize is funded by contributions from the law school’s faculty members who select a graduating student to receive the award on the basis of scholarship, service, and demonstrated capacity for leadership.
Coleman was awarded the prize by Vice Dean Antony Page (pictured shaking hands with Coleman) during the commencement ceremony on May 13, 2017. Page said, “We had many worthy nominees, but our winner was nominated by more professors than any previous nominee or winner. Academically she is an extraordinarily hard worker, a top student, on the Dean’s list, who will graduate in the top 5% of the class. She was described by one professor as the best Research Assistant she has had in nearly 20 years of teaching. She is an editor on the Indiana Law Review, and her note was selected for publication. She is an active participant in numerous co-curricular programs at McKinney, including the Family Law Society, the Student Outreach Clinic, and the Black Law Students Association. And she has done all of this while pursuing a series of impressive and competitive paid work experiences and externships (including one with our graduation speaker [Justice Steven David, ‘82]).”
Coleman said, “As I sat at graduation, listening to Vice Dean Page read the accomplishments of this year’s recipient, I never, in a million years, thought it would be me. The honor is even more special when I consider the accomplishments of my fellow graduates.” Coleman will join Faegre Baker Daniels in September as an Associate in the Products Liability Practice Group.
