Professor 'Arafa, S.J.D. '13, Publishes in 'Jurist'

Professor Mohamed ‘Arafa, S.J.D. ’13, discusses French President Emmanuel Macron’s policy in the Middle East in an article that was published in “Jurist.” The piece was posted to the website on June 22.
In the article, ‘Arafa noted that Macron has said that "The Republic must allow citizens to fully uphold their convictions, so long as they do not interfere with the beliefs of others or with the rules to which everyone is bound." ‘Arafa also outlines Macron’s approach to combating terrorism, acknowledging that progress has left some of the young people in France behind, and that this issue needs to be addressed.
Professor ‘Arafa will speak at the University of Parma in Italy on June 27 on the topic, “Towards a Plural University: Freedom of Religion for Muslim Students." This talk has been previewed in Italian media.
Professor ‘Arafa is teaching Comparative Middle Eastern Law online this summer at IU McKinney as an adjunct professor and will resume his teaching for the next two years as a visiting professsor at the University of Brasilia in Brasilia and Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
‘Arafa is an assistant professor of criminal law and criminal justice at Alexandria University Faculty of Law in Egypt.
