Professor Quigley to Lecture at Notre Dame in November
08/30/2017
IU McKinney Professor Fran Quigley, ’87, will lecture on November 2 as part of the Notre Dame Forum. His talk, titled, “Access to Medicines as a Moral Imperative and Human Right,” will take place at 7 p.m. in Hesburgh Library Carey Auditorium.
Professor Quigley’s latest book, Prescription for the People: An Activist’s Guide to Making Medicine Affordable for All, will be published in November by Cornell University Press.
In the work, he advocates for a shift in the global and U.S. approach to developing and providing essential medicines. Globally, 10 million people die each year because they are unable to pay for medicines that would save them. Patients and activists are aiming to make all essential medicines affordable by claiming them as a public good and a human right.
Professor Quigley teaches in the Health and Human Rights Clinic at IU McKinney, and is the founder of People of Faith For Access to Medicines, or PFAM.
