Story on REACH Program Features Professor Silva, IU McKinney Impact
09/20/2017
A story on the Re-Entry and Community Help, or REACH, program run by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, features the work done by Professor Lahny Silva and IU McKinney students. The piece appears in the September 20 issue of Indiana Lawyer.
Students mentor formerly incarcerated individuals, helping them draft resumes, fill out job applications, and find medical care. Students, in return, gain advocacy skills as they push through administrative barriers because their clients are depending on them.
Professor Silva joined the faculty in Summer 2011. Her areas of interest include criminal law, criminal procedure, constitutional law, torts and evidence. She received the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Unsung Hero award for her community service work.
