IP Center Distinguished Lecture Series Welcomes Professor Mary LaFrance
09/28/2017
The IU McKinney Center for Intellectual Property Law and Innovation will host Professor Mary LaFrance for its Distinguished Lecture Series on October 4.
"Choice of law can be outcome-determinative in right of publicity claims where the plaintiff is domiciled outside of the jurisdiction where the alleged infringement occurred," Professor LaFrance said. "This paper critiques the approach used by the majority of U.S. courts, and recommends an alternative."
Professor LaFrance is the IGT Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV. She will discuss “The Right of Publicity and Cross-Border Infringements” at 5 p.m. in the Wynne Courtroom at Inlow Hall. A reception will immediately follow the lecture in the law school’s atrium.
This lecture is free and open to the public, and carries with it 1.0 hour of Indiana Continuing Legal Education credit with a registration.
