10/18/2017
G. Michael Witte, ’82, remembers a time in Indiana when he was not only the sole Asian-American judge in the state, but the only Asian-American legal professional he knew. His career was celebrated at the October 12 inaugural banquet for the Indiana Chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. A story about the event was featured in the Indiana Lawyer.
Witte received the Trailblazer award from the organization, which was presented to him by Judge Lakshmi Reddy, ’97, of Vigo Superior Court. Going forward, the award will bear his name: G. Michael Witte Trailblazer Award. Witte is the executive director of the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission. He had a 25-year career on the bench in Wayne and Dearborn counties before joining the commission.
Professor of Practice Frank Sullivan, Jr., was the keynote speaker at the event.
