Martha Hoover, '80, has been named Restaurant Empire Builder of the Year by the website, Eater. The site, which focuses on restaurants in the nation's most important food cities, commends Hoover for the way the approaches her business and treats her employees. The honor was announced December 5.

Hoover was nominated in 2017 for the James Beard Foundation Best Restaurateur Award. She was a semifinalist for this honor in 2013, and 2016. There are 11 restaurants under her Patachou Inc. umbrella, and her Patachou Foundation delivers meals to food insecure children. She was inducted into the Junior Achievement of Central Indiana Business Hall of Fame in 2015 in recognition of her work. Hoover also served on the IU McKinney Board of Visitors.
