03/27/2018
The IU McKinney team of 2Ls Alec Baker and Quentin Collins won the 2018 Indiana State Bar Association's Law Student Conclave Moot Court Competition. The final round of competition took place March 23 in the Indiana Supreme Court's courtroom and was judged by current and former justices.
Baker and Collins also won the award for best oral argument. They defeated a team from the IU Maurer School of Law to win the competition. IU McKinney's other team of 2Ls, Morgan Daly and Brandon Yosha, also took part in the competition. After defeating a team from Valparaiso Law, Daly and Yosha were defeated by the first-seeded team from IU Maurer. "The team received praise from the judges and received impressive oral argument scores," said Professor James Dimitri, faculty advisor to the Moot Court Society at IU McKinney. "Both teams represented IU McKinney well. In addition, congratulations to student coach Josh Hutcheson for all of his hard work coaching the teams for the competition. He did an outstanding job of preparing the teams and conducting practices."
