IU McKinney's Annual Women's Caucus Auction Raises $14,000 for Patachou Foundation
02/23/2018
The Women's Caucus, a student group at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, raised $14,000 for Patachou Foundation during its 41st annual auction. The event took place on February 22 in the Inlow Hall atrium.
Patachou Foundation prepares and serves meals to children impacted by homelessness and hunger. During the school year, the foundation partners with after-school program administrators to serve meals Monday through Friday. During the summer months, the foundation serves lunches daily Monday through Friday. The amount of money raised at the auction is enough to feed a fully-attended Indianapolis Public School for sixth months.
Martha Hoover, '80, is the owner and president of Patachou, Inc. She opened her first restaurant in Indianapolis in 1989, and her restaurant offerings now include Café Patachou, Petite Chou, Napolese, Public Greens, Bar One Fourteen, and Crispy Bird. She began the Patachou Foundation in 2013.
The auction is always a lively affair that is eagerly looked forward to by students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Guest auctioneers for the 2018 auction were Professor Yvonne Dutton, and Assistant Dean for the Office of Professional Development Chasity Thompson, '02. Items on offer included meals and outings with IU McKinney professors and alumni. Professors also revived the ever-popular home-baked pie donations for the silent auction part of the event. Professor Mary Harter Mitchell, who passed away in 2009, typically donated a home-baked pie for the silent auction every year.
