Egyptian Moot Court Team Coached by Professor 'Arafa to Compete Internationally in 2019

The team from Alexandria University Faculty of Law, which was coached by Professor Mohamed 'Arafa, S.J.D. '13, won the right to compete in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2019. The team took top honors in the Shalakany Arbitration Moot, a national moot court competition held in Egypt. The winning team is fully sponsored by Shalakany Law Firm to participate in the Vis Moot competition in Vienna, Austria.
The winning team is comprised of Ghadeer Halim, Khadija Eino, Mohamed Aly, Habiba El Safty, Karim El Rouby, Mohamed El Sakkaf, Mohamed Abdelrahman, and Nayera El Safty, and coaches Ahmed Abd El Nabi and Mohamed Elbaroudy. Professor 'Arafa was their faculty supervisor.
A total of seven national teams from different universities around Egypt took part in the national competition there. The teams were given a simulated international commercial arbitration problem. Each team was required to prepare a legal memorandum for claimant and respondent, then participate in oral pleadings.
The winning team also took honors for best written memoranda. An award of second place in the category of best oral argument went to Ghadeer Halim, and the award for fifth place in that same category went to Khadija Eino.
