Professor Edwards Talks with Spanish Newspaper about Guantanamo Bay

Professor George Edwards talked with the Spanish newspaper, La Vanguardia, for a story about Guantanamo Bay. The story was published April 29. Professor Edwards spoke with the reporter about Guantanamo via Skype while he was in Japan.
Professor Edwards' Program in International Human Rights Law (PIHRL) created the Military Commission Observation Project (MCOP) after the Pentagon granted non-governmental organization observer status to PIHRL in 2014. MCOP participants view commission proceedings for Guantanamo Bay detainees through video link at Fort Meade in Maryland, or travel to Guantanamo Bay to witness them in person.
IU McKinney 3L Sheila Willard is observing Guantanamo Bay proceedings the week of April 30, and Larissa Sullivant, Head of Collection Services at the Ruth Lilly Law Library, will travel there in June.
Professor Edwards is the Special Assistant to the Dean for Inter-Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations and the Carl M. Gray Professor of Law. He is also director of the Program in International Human Rights Law and director of the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, U.S. Military Commission Observation Project and The Gitmo Observer, all of which he founded.
