Professor Magliocca Takes Part in Podcast for National Constitution Center
08/09/2018
IU McKinney Professor Gerard Magliocca appears as a guest for a podcast with the National Constitution Center, where he discusses John A. Bingham, the former Ohio Congressman who wrote a significant portion of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The podcast is available on the Center's website.
Bingham was the subject of Professor Magliocca’s book: American Founding Son: John Bingham and the Invention of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was published by NYU Press in 2013. Bingham was a leading antislavery lawyer in his day, and the portion of the amendment that he wrote guarantees fundamental rights and equality to all Americans.
Professor Magliocca's most recent book is The Heart of the Constitution: How the Bill of Rights Became the Bill of Rights, which was published in December 2017 by Oxford University Press. The book examines the untold story of the most celebrated part of the United States Constitution, exploring the history of how the first 10 constitutional amendments came to be known as the Bill of Rights.
Professor Magliocca is a Samuel R. Rosen Professor of Law, and a noted expert in constitutional law.
