Indiana Supreme Court Honors Professor Sullivan, Mary DePrez, '79, for Work on Statewide Case Management System

The Indiana Supreme Court honored Professor Frank Sullivan, Jr., a former Justice on the Court (in the photo at left with Justice Steven David, '80), and Mary DePrez, '79, the Court’s Director of Trial Court Technology (in the photo at right with Justice David), for their work to equip all Indiana trial courts with a uniform case management system known as Odyssey. The project, which began in 2007, now includes 80 percent of Indiana's caseload, encompassing 298 courts in 62 counties. A companion e-filing initiative, launched by Chief Justice Loretta Rush in 2015, has been installed in 83 counties and approximately 500,000 documents are e-filed statewide each month. Other technology initiatives launched by the Supreme Court share electronically court information with law enforcement, state agencies, and others who need and use court information, including the public.
“It is very gratifying to see the enormous strides that the Supreme Court has made under Mary DePrez’s leadership to provide Indiana trial courts with the latest technology for managing their caseloads,” Sullivan said. “Our state is certainly among the nation’s leaders when it comes to court technology.”
The pair was recognized September 6 during the Indiana Supreme Court's annual educational conference for judicial officers. Sullivan was instrumental in launching and supervising the Supreme Court’s technology initiatives when he was a member of the Court, a role now performed by Justice David. DePrez was previously honored for her work at the Law School’s 2015 Public Interest Recognition Dinner.
