LL.M., S.J.D. Alum Publishes Book on Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions
11/27/2018
Mohammad Bedier, LL.M., ’11, S.J.D., ’15, recently published his doctoral dissertation titled Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions – The Case of Merger Control v. Merger Deregulation.
Bedier serves as Egypt’s Chief Judge and Vice President of the State Council. He successfully defended his dissertation at IU McKinney on November 11, 2014. Professor Frank Emmert served as Bedier’s dissertation supervisor.
In his book, Bedier explains the history and dynamics of mergers and acquisitions. Citing pre-merger control laws and regulations, he points out the impediments to cross-border mergers and acquisitions involving the U.S., the E.U. and the Middle East. He also discusses merger deregulation and key proposals for reform.
Bedier greatly appreciates his time and experiences spent with IU McKinney, both as an LL.M. and as an S.J.D. student.
“I’m very proud that I associated myself to Robert H. McKinney Law School for more than six years," Bedier said. "I joined the LL.M. program in 2009 and then the S.J.D. program in 2011. Throughout both programs, the law school offered me extraordinary learning opportunities and resources that other law schools could not offer, that included a state-of-the-art library, classrooms, and all the software packages that you need, at no cost. More importantly, the faculty members are not like others, they really transfer knowledge and years of experiences to the students.”
