01/02/2019
Professor Fran Quigley, '87, was honored by the Baptist Ministers Alliance during an event that took place at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. Professor Quigley was recognized for his political and social work. He was one of several community leaders lauded by the Alliance during its commemoration of the 156th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. It was the church's 75th annual service in honor of the event.
"It’s an amazing honor because of the day and how important this is in human history," Professor Quigley said in a story in the Indianapolis Star about the celebration. "It's an honor to have this opportunity to be alongside other folks who continue to work for justice, and understand that the fight for justice didn’t end on Emancipation Proclamation day, it continues."
Professor Quigley teaches in the Health and Human Rights Clinic at IU McKinney, and is the founder of People of Faith For Access to Medicines, or PFAM.
