Professor Wilson Meets with LL.M. Alumnus Geghamyan, '07

During a recent trip abroad, Professor Tom Wilson traveled to Armenia to meet with Artyom Geghamyan, LL.M. '07. Geghamyan is the Chief Legal Officer at Vallex Group in Yerevan, Armenia.
In the photo, Professor Wilson, left, and Geghamyan display the IU McKinney banner that the professor takes on his travels. The two became friends when Geghamyan was a student at IU McKinney. Wilson and Geghamyan met to discuss enrollment of Armenian students in the LL.M. program at IU McKinney and in the Chinese Law Summer Program, which IU McKinney administers in Beijing.
Geghamyan served as Deputy Justice Minister in Armenia in 2014. He has worked at a variety of public and private sector endeavors in Armenia. In addition, he headed the Armenian Justice Ministry’s unit in charge of relations with the European Human Rights Court, and he worked as a lawyer at the court’s department that carried out its judgments. Geghamyan previously was a fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, part of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where his research focused on transitional justice issues in Eastern Europe and former soviet socialist republics. He was an Edward S. Mason Fellow, and received his Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he focused on leadership development, public policy, and international human rights. He also was a fellow of the UK Ministry of Justice and John Smith Trust program on good governance, social justice, and the rule of law. He was awarded the U.S. Department of State Edmund E. Muskie Fellowship and the Public Service Fellowship in 2009.
Professor Wilson is the Director of the Joint Center for Asian Law Studies and the Chinese Law Summer Program.
