Joan Blackwell, '86, Named General Counsel for AG's Office

Joan Blackwell, ’86, has been named General Counsel for the Office of the Indiana Attorney General. She has served there as Chief of Staff since 2017.
Blackwell teaches Secured Transactions as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney. Previously, she was of counsel at Indianapolis law firm Barnes & Thornburg, where she focused her practice on bankruptcy, commercial law, and litigation. She has previously served as a section chief in a previous Attorney General’s administration, and as a staff attorney to Judge Frank J. Otte of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Indiana.
