Visiting Professor Stella Emery Santana delivered a lecture on December 14 at Xi'an Jiantong University School of Law, in Xi'an, China. She also visited with Associate Professor Li Xiaoming, who was a visiting professor at IU McKinney's Joint Center for Asian Law Studies during Fall 2017. Professor Santana and Professor Li shared an office at IU McKinney and became friends.

Professor Santana's lecture, titled "Environmental Protection on the High-Seas: What Is It All About?" discussed the impact of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea has had on sustainability and the conservation of the high-seas. She delivered this lecture to graduate students at the law school, and international students, as well. In the photo at left, Professor Santana is shown, seated at the center, with Professor Li, left, and the students who attended the lecture.

While at Xi'an Jiaotong University School of Law, Professor Santana also met with Professor Ma Zhiguo, director of the IP Research Center at Xi'an Jiaotong University. While Professor Li was visiting IU McKinney, she was also conducting research on Chinese Medicine around the world, and the three met to talk about IP and Chinese Medicine in Brazil.
