02/07/2019
Health Law Week, sponsored by the IU McKinney Hall Center for Law and Health and the Health Law Society, kicks off a round of activities on Monday, February 18, concluding with the annual McDonald-Merrill-Ketcham Memorial Lectureship and Award for Excellence in Law and Medicine on Friday, February 22.
What’s the best way to start the week? A free, healthy breakfast in the atrium, provided by the Health Law Society on Monday, February 18.
On Tuesday, February 19, learn how to craft a better elevator pitch during a one-hour session from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Room 300. Erin Albert, ’12, MBA, PharmD, JD of ASCP, Cora Steinmetz, JD of IU Health, and Kreigh Cook, ’17, JD, MPH, of IU Health, will teach students how to create a five-minute elevator pitch and discuss how they used these skills to find their current employment.
Next, use that short, prepared speech in the atrium from 4:30-6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20 at the Health Law Networking Fair, where students can meet health law attorneys from all over Indianapolis. If you are a student interested in attending, please register via the McKinney website
Finally, don’t miss the annual McDonald-Merrill-Ketcham Memorial Lectureship and Award for Excellence in Law and Medicine, presented by the law school in conjunction with the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Supported by a bequest to the two schools, this lectureship and award brings leading scholars and policy makers in the fields of law and medicine to the Indianapolis campus for the benefit of students, faculty, the bar and the medical community.
The 2019 lecture will be presented by Karen DeSalvo, M.D., M.P.H., professor of the departments of Internal Medicine and Population Health at Dell Medical School, University of Texas, Austin.
The event begins with a light lunch in the atrium at 11:30 a.m., followed by the award lecture from noon-2 p.m. in the Wynne Courtroom. The event is free, but registration is required.
