Justice David, '82, Lectures at Renmin University of China Law School during Recent Visit

Justice Steven H. David of the Indiana Supreme Court took part in two conferences during a recent visit to Renmin University of China Law School (RUC Law School). He traveled with IU McKinney Dean Andrew R. Klein, Visiting Professor Stella Emery Santana, and Professor Tom Wilson, Director of the Joint Center for Asian Law Studies.
Justice David, a member of the Indiana Supreme Court who teaches Contract Law for LL.M. students, and Evidence for J.D. students as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney, also met with Han Dayuan, Professor and former Dean at RUC Law School. Professor Han was a Visiting Professor through the Joint Center for Asian Law Studies and lectured about Rule of Law Development in China during the Fall 2017 semester. Justice David's lectures were part of three conference the IU McKinney team took part in over four days while they visited RUC Law School. Justice David's lectures were titled "Top Ethical Challenges Facing In-House Counsel in Corporate America: A Lawyer's View and a Justice's View," and "The Art of Judging: Inside the Indiana Supreme Court."
These conferences were attended by IU McKinney LL.M. alumni from China, and Eric David, '18, who is an LL.M. student at RUC Law School on the Bilateral Chinese Government Scholarship. Also in the audience were former Visiting Professors Liu Hua, Bao Hongbin, Jiang Kenan, Zheng Ming, and Yu Hengli, all of whom team taught the course Doing Business in China at IU McKinney during the Fall 2014 semester. Attendees also included several former Visiting Scholars, and at least one prospective Visiting Scholar to the Joint Center for Asian Law Studies at IU McKinney.
