IU McKinney Offers Inaugural Winter Program
02/20/2019
Prospective international students took part in IU McKinney's first-ever Winter Program in Indianapolis January 14 to February 1, 2019. A total of five students were immersed in law classes, law-related field trips, and the city's cultural activities.
Izabelle Justo Angelo de Souza, an attorney at the law firm Braga Nascimento e Zilio, in São Paulo, Brazil, has always wanted to earn a master's degree at a university outside her home country. In the photo, she is in the center. "It really is important for giving me the skills to take my career forward," she said. She appreciated the opportunity to live as an American law student for a short while, and experience the differences and challenges she will have to face if she decides to work as a lawyer in the United States.
"I am really thankful for the chance to attend so many classes and for all who made me feel so welcome," de Souza said.
Facundo Juan Viana Chaves, an attorney from Buenos Aires, Argentina, also is interested in a master's degree from a school outside Argentina, and enjoyed how welcoming faculty, staff, and students were at IU McKinney. In the photo, he is the first on the left. "Everyone I interacted with was incredibly nice and helpful," he said. "I hope I get the chance to come back to the university."
