Professor Magliocca Receives Prestigious Research Fellowship from Washington Library

Professor Gerard Magliocca has been named to the 2019-2020 class of fellows for the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon. He will spend one month at the library, residing at the DeVos Scholars' Residence, and will receive an award of $3,000.
The program offers residential fellowships, monetary awards, and access to the resources available at the library and across the Mount Vernon estate for scholars and students. Professor Magliocca's research topic is "Washington's Heir: The Life of Justice Bushrod Washington." Justice Washington was a nephew of President George Washington, and served in the Continental Army near the end of the Revolution. He served on the United States Supreme Court for 30 years.
Professor Magliocca is the Samuel R. Rosen Professor of Law, and the Interim Director of the Center for Intellectual Property Law and Innovation. He is the author of four books, the latest of which, The Heart of the Constitution: How the Bill of Rights Became the Bill of Rights, was published by Oxford University Press in 2018. He also is the author of over 20 articles on constitutional law and intellectual property.
