IU McKinney Teams Compete in ABA National Appellate Advocacy Moot
03/08/2019
Two IU McKinney teams comprised of 3Ls Kailey Ruggiero and Brad Lohsl; and 2Ls Michael Sherman, Eddie Abel, and Mollie Burgess competed in the regional rounds of the 2019 ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition (NAAC).
One team consisted of Ruggiero and Sherman, and the other was made up by Abel, Burgess, and Lohsl. Although neither team qualified for the national championship rounds, the students won praise from the judges for their confidence, poise, bench presence, and knowledge of the law and the record.
The ABA NAAC is the largest moot court competition in the U.S. The regional rounds in which the McKinney teams competed took place on February 28–March 2 at the Edward W. Brooke Municipal Courthouse in Boston.
The teams wish to thank student coach Ryan Shouse, a 3L, for his hard work in preparing the teams, and to Professor Jim Dimitri, their faculty advisor, for his instruction, support, and dedication to the teams.
