IU McKinney LL.M. Students Discuss Vietnamese Laws

Seven Master of Laws (LL.M.) students from Vietnam talked about the law in their home country to an eager crowd of Indiana attorneys, and IU McKinney faculty and students. The lecture, part of the International Student Speaker Series, took place on February 28 at the Inlow Hall Faculty Lounge.
Vice Dean Karen E. Bravo moderated the event, with the topic "A Panel Discussion on Vietnamese Laws." All of the speakers hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Vietnam, and spoke about a particular area of interest.
Trieu Anh Kiet Do, LL.M. Commercial and Corporate Law student, spoke about the "Possibilities of House Ownership in Vietnam for Foreigners." Kiet graduated from the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.
Thu Anh Doan, who is also in the LL.M. Corporate and Commercial Law track, discussed "The Constitutional Right to Privacy in Vietnamese Criminal Procedure Law." She graduated from Vietnam National University-Hanoi School of Law.
Studying the LL.M. Corporate and Commercial Law track, Anh Long Duong tackled the "Validity of Liquidated Damages Clauses – A Brief Comparison between the Civil and Common Law Systems." He graduated from the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.
A graduate of Hanoi Law University, Phung Ha Nguyen discussed "Nationalizing Trademark 'Catfish' in the US and the Negative Impacts on Vietnamese Farmers." Phung Ha is studying LL.M. Intellectual Property Law.
Lily Pham, LL.M. Corporate and Commercial Law student, talked about "Investment Forms and Procedures in Vietnam according to Law on Investment 2014." She is a graduate of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.
"An Overview of Inheritance Law in Vietnam" was discussed by Minh Tu Tran, LL.M. Corporate and Commercial Law candidate. She graduated from the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.
Thi Ngoc Huyen Vu, LL.M. Corporate and Commercial Law student, lectured about "Judicial Review in the WTO Anti-Dumping Agreement." Huyen is a graduate of the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.
